I swung through Washington, DC and met up with some old friends, and snapped a few quick pictures of the landmarks.
At the U.S. Navy Memorial, they had hunky young sailors going through a complicated routine
complete with synchronized butt-slapping. So much for "Don't Ask, Don't Tell!"

My friend Richard and I had lunch. Richard is a historian working for the National Archives,
so this is him standing in front of his office.
The national phallic symbol.
The source of so much misery at the moment.
A bunch of TV and microwave towers in Northwest.
The old Post Office Pavillion.
The view of Washington from the roof of my friend Erich's building.
Erich standing by the door to his company's building.
The Capitol.
The Washington Monument, seen from the Mall side.
The National Archives seen from the front.
The Capitol seen from Pennsylvanic avenue.
The courthouse where the Monica Lewinsky trial was being held. This was a drive-by shot--sorry about the angle.
The new building where the Carpenter's union headquarters used to be.
Union Station.
Union Station again.
The Supreme Court.
The Lincoln Memorial (another drive-by shot).
My friend Ron. We got together at his office in Alexandria for lunch.
The new stadium at the University of Maryland. Looks like it is about twice the size
of the old one.
The campus Chapel. The bell chimes "Maryland My Maryland" (same tune as "Oh Christmas Tree Oh Christmas Tree").
The Main Dining Hall. You can see the antenna for WMUC, the campus FM station I used to work at
on the roof. Because it was between semesters, everything at the station was closed up and locked.
